Big Red Cat - Recovering

BIG RED CAT was due to resume at Canberra last week but was scratched due to having contracted a cold. As our luck would have it - trainer Colbey Hill called in the vet who gave the horse an injection - which he suffered a reaction to and subsequently broke out in hives all over his body.

Colbey told me last Friday the horse was now recovering but as yet i do not know when he will be back at the races.

Jingellic and Centabeel Today

Jingellic and Centabeel will be going around at the Bathurst Cup meeting today. To be quite honest I don't think either of them can win .....but we have won races at silly odds before and when I have thought we were little chance.

Jingellic will ruin in race four - the 1400m maiden and Daniel Edmonds will ride from barrier 11. He probably has no option bar to go forward from there but he has shown himself to be an ordinary conveyance and I think that Ninetjer looks the horse to beat in the race.

Centabeel was woeful first up at Dubbo last time out. He will jump from barrier 9 in the class 3 today, the last race, with Daniel on board.

Travel at your own risk!

AFFRETANDO on Sunday

AFFRETANDO resumes from a long spell when he goes around in a 900 metres maiden at Queanbeyan on Sunday.

He has drawn barrier 3 and Daniel Edmonds will ride the Charge Forward gelding who is having his first start for Orange trainer Brad Draper.

Sunday may tell us a bit more about the horse's future prospects and I am not prepared to prognosticate at this stage because I have not seen the horse work and I would just prefer to say he will be like all of our horses - doing his best.

Big Red Cat Hit By Virus

BIG RED CAT was scheduled to resume racing at Canberra tomorrow but I had a very disappointing call from trainer Colbey Hill this morning who told me the horse has a cold and will not be starting.

Colbey told me she was getting the horse some treatment from the vet today and the horse was coughing incessantly this morning.

It will take a few days to ascertain the affects of the virus.

CENTABEEL and JINGELLIC tomorrow

CENTABEEL will resume from a spell in an 1100 metres class 2 at Dubbo tomorrow with Daniel Edmonds in the saddle. The horse has drawn barrier 1.

He has proven to be an extremely talented but very unreliable conveyance in the past so he is the kind of horse you can not tip to anyone with any confidence.

The horse has, according to stable foreman and racing manager in our Orange stable, Mick Plummer, settled in well at Orange and looks well.

He has drawn to get a good run behind speedsters like Creme Glacee and Amalfi Lad.

JINGELLIC will run in the first on the card, a 1400 metres maiden. The horse was simply awful last time out at Narromine and would have to improve significantly for me to reverse my opinion of him - that he is pretty restricted.

Daniel will also ride him and he has drawn out in 11. He has the blinkers on for tomorrow's assignment so we will see what happens.

RIVERS was beaten as $2.25 favourite in the 800m Cl 1 at the Gilgandra non-TAB meeting yesterday afternoon. We thought she could win - but that is racing and as i did not attend the meeting I cannot comment on her run.
