Jingellic Tomorrow

JINGELLIC was fourth emergency for the two year old maiden at Warwick Farm tomorrow afternoon but I just received a text message from his trainer Kerry Parker informing me that the horse has got a run and will go around.

He raced very well first up from a spell at Moruya and Jeff Penza will take the mount on the son of Galileo tomorrow. He appeared to handle the soft track at Moruya last time out so hopefully that will not be a problem as the track is certain to be very rain affected.

Jeff and Kerry were impressed with the horse at Moruya and while he will need further than tomorrow's 1400 metres he may well run a very cheeky race at odds.

CENTABEEL has been nominated for the 1400 ratings race at Nowra next Tuesday but it is unlikely he will start if the track is very heavy. Instead he will be held back for the 1208mtrs class two race at Canberra on Friday on the Acton track.

The horse ran very well second up on the Acton track as he was never on the track and kept grinding to the line. If he draws a barrier this time he is certain to race well.

It is likely that Ben Moffatt will again ride him if he is available.

KERRY PARKER reports that NEXTANIX is pleasing him as he embarks on what is hopefully the journey of our lives this spring. He was scheduled to have an exhibition gallop with Kerry's star performer Brilliant Light between races at Kembla Grange this Saturday afternoon, but if the track is too wet this will not happen.

Kerry plans to start him in the jumoupts at Kembla on August 11 then he will progress to the races about 10 days later.

AFFRETANDO is back in work at Kerry Parker's and Kerry said the horse is coming along nicely. He is some way of resuming at this stage.

COLBEY HILL has turned BIG RED CAT out and he will have two months in the paddock to recover from the injuries he received in the run at his last start at Canterbury.

He will be headed for a country cups campaign next time in.

BRAD DRAPER reports that Rolluscating will resume racing in all likelihood at Cowra in a couple of weeks. Brad and our racing manager Michael Plummer say the filly is coming along nicely.

They also report that BONDO FOREST will commence his racing career in the next couple of weeks.

RORNAZAR will go form out Orange stables to David Payne in the next couple of weeks to kick off his racing career.

The son of Seidnazar has been in work at Orange for a few weeks and is going to kick off his career in Sydney.

I spoke to David Payne earlier this week and he is looking for a three year old maiden race for STEVE'S GOLD in the next week or so. There have been no suitable races for the horse lately, but David told me his is working well and the horse is well within himself so he will have another run before he goes for a break.

Three Runners On Friday & horse news.

Platinum will have three runners this Friday - two at Moruya and one at Cowra picnics (more about that later).

CENTABEEL will resume at Moruya in a 1010 metres Class One race with Ben Moffatt on board. He will be topweight in the race on the ratings released today and we decided to take a kilo off his weight with Ben's claim as he will probably get 59kgs. We had intended to put Mick Travers on but trainer Colbey Hill decided the extra kilo off with an experienced apprentice like Ben would be to our advantage.

Colbey told me today the horse is working really well (as he has always done) and that he trialled well last week. She is very keen on the horse (as have been his previous trainers Gary Portelli and Rebecca Levy) and she thinks he will be very competitive on Friday.

JINGELLIC will resume from a spell at the Moruya meeting in a 1010m 2YO race with Jeff Penza on board. I spoke to his trainer Kerry Parker tonight and he tells me the horse is going well and he expects he may get run off his feet early (he is by Galileo) but he expects him to be running on well at the business end of the race.

Kerry has a good opinion of the horse and he will hopefully develop into a nice horse.

DIVINYLZ will start at the Cowra picnic meeting on Friday in the 1000 metres maiden and although I do not know I suggest that John Mills will probably ride her as he rides the majority of trainer Kevin McLeod's horses at the picnics.

She will be returning to Orange, win, lose or draw on Friday as there would appear little point in keeping her in training close to Sydney if she is not going to measure up.

She will be our first runner at the picnics (and hopefully our last) as I see very little value in carting horses to a meeting for $1700 first prizemoney.

BIG RED CAT INJURY:

Big Red Cat suffered a severe buffeting in his race at Canterbury last Wednesday and pulled up with superficial cuts on his legs and severe swelling, and required Buteazolidine treatment from the club vet after the race to enable him to make the trek back to Moruya.

A subsequent scan showed there is a slight tear in one of his fore tendons and the injury is one that could either resolve itself or tear worse and cause considerable doubt over the horse's future.

He will be scanned again tomorrow to see if the injury has worsened since the race, but trainer Colbey Hill tells me that the swelling has subsided considerably and he is eating again - he was off his feed for a couple of days after the race (very unlike him) but I am hopeful that we still have a racehorse after tomorrow's scans.

NEXTANIX FINE:

Trainer Kerry Parker was terlling me today he was thrilled with the progress Nextanix has made since returning to the stable last week. Kerry tells me the horse has come back a treat and Colin Branthwaite had looked after the horse remarkably well at his Cobbity property. Kerry told me Colin had fed him up and he is stronger and really well and we had a peripheral discussion on our plans for him.

Kerry is looking to the Gr 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick in October and he will probably have three runs into the race. He will go around first up in easier company before taking on the traditional lead ups - the Peter Pan and Gloaming.

If he measures up we are hgopeful of travelling on to Melbourne.

ROLLUSCATING DUE TO RETURN SHORTLY.

Trainer Brad Draper tells me that Rolluscatiung will resume shortly. She is, according to Brad, coming along nicely and will probably resume in a fortnight.

Brad also tells me that BONDO FOREST is going okay and will make his debut shortly as well.

AFFRETANDO BACK TOMORROW:

Kerry Parker tells me he is picking up Afftretando from Branthweaite's tomorrow to put the son of Charge Forward back into work. He is expected to make the races this time in.

STEVE'S GOLD DISAPPOINTING:

Steve's Gold made his debut at Wyong last Thursday, and he went appallingly. Trainer David Payne was nonplussed by the performance and he will probably have another run before any decision is made on his future as he may well end up in our Orange stable.

Big Red Cat Today

Big Red Cat goes around in race foiur at Canterbury this afternoon - his first start for new trainer Colbey Hill - with Jamie Quinell aboard.

Jamie has ridden the horse previously, finishing third at Randwick on him and his 2kg claim will help offset the topweight of 59kgs. Today's race should be run at a very fast pace, with Saddler Jack almost certain to adopt the same catch me if you can tactics that he adopted very successfully at Gosford last Thursday.

Jamie will have to ride the horse well, and that being said I expect him to improve dramatically on his last start failure when favourite at Randwick - which was undoubtedly the worst run of his career.

I spoke to Colbey yesterday and she is happy with the horse so we go there with a lot of hope.

STEVE'S GOLD TOMORROW:

Our Bradbury's Luck gelding Steve's Gold makes his debut at Wyong tomorrow in race two - a two years old maiden - and Glyn Schofield will ride the David Payne trained galloper.

He has trialled well on both occasions and we expect him to be competitive. Poker Night and Traffic look the testing material in the race.

The Cat Moves To Muruya - Horse Report

BIG RED CAT has been transferred from David Payne to Colbey Hill's Moruya stables.

The horse was very disappointing as favourite at Randwick last Monday and David suggested we like to "move him on somewhere weaker" and I took the opportunity to move him to Colbey's and see if the environs down on the beach at Moruya suit him better.

I spoke to Colbey this morning and she told me the horse arrived yesterday and ate up well last night but she was a bit concerned when working the horse this morning - saying that he was very sore in the mouth and felt slightly sore in a shoulder.

She also said she would take a blood on the horse and let me know the outcome of those tests. He was abysmal on Monday - but there were some circumstances, while not sufficient to excuse him as he was beaten a long way, that contributed to the defeat.

He did race fiercely when he found the front after Adam (Hyeronimous) fired him up to lead and he did race in the worst section of the track - hard against the fence - where nothing won all day.

At this stage there are no plans in concrete for when he will race again,

CENTABEEL:

Centabeel will have his first start for Colbey at the Moruya TAB meeting on July 9. He is, according to Colbey working well (something he has always done anyway) and is coming along nicely.

We have no plans for the horse beyond that at this stage.

JINGELLIC:

He trialled at Kembla Grange yesterday (I did not go) but trainer Kerry Parker reported that he trialled well and was given a very easy time by the rider. Kerry says he will have another trial in a fortnight and then go on to the races. He is a horse we have a bit of an opinion of and hopefully this time in he will start to put it all together.

NEXTANIX:

He has had a two week break at Col Branthwairte's Jazcom Equine Complex at Cobbity since his luckless fourth at Rosehill and he will be back at Kerry's stables this week to get ready for a spring campaign.

I have fielded several substantial offers for the horse, particularly from Hong Kong, but at this stage "Zim" is not for sale and hopefully he will justify the faith that Kerry, Jay (Ford) and I have in the horse.

AFFRETANDO:

He will return to Kerry's stables this week after a spell at Branthwaite's. He has had a trial at Kembla where he finished third and the son of Charge Forward is showing some potential. It is unlikely now that he will race as a two year old and will be ready to race early in the new season.

ARTOUSTE:

Unfortunately cut himself at the beach a couple of weeks back and trainer Kevin McLeod was bitterly disappointed as he was apparently going quite well until the injury which necessitated the cessation of his program. I am disappointed as he is a horse, because of his size and past problems, that needs the sting out of the tracks (at least) to produce his best so I am awaiting further news on his progress.

DIVINYLZ:

Will have her first start for Kevin McLeod at Goulburn next Monday. She has shown a distinct dislike for wet tracks. She did show some ability when in work with Rebecca Levy, finishing second at Young on debut before running a nice race at Dubbo when at the end of her first preparation.

Monday will tell us whether she is worth coninuing with or not.

KAIWAKA:

Is progressing towards returning to racing at Kevin McLeod's. He is probably a month off racing.

HANSARD:

Is spelling. The two year old son of Oratorio is not going to commence his careeer until he is three. Kevin McLeod reported he had a few "niggling" issues in his last preparation and time is the only cure for them.

ROLLUSCATING:

She will likely be the first runner for the stable in Orange that is now under Brad Draper as the trainer and with our new racing manager Michael Plummer as foreman.

She raced very well on debut at Orange finishing third and then ran unplaced at Narromine. She is probably not headed for the heights but I am hopeful we can get a maiden win out of her before sending her to the stallion this season.

SEERSAYER:

Is in work with Brad at Orange. She is working along okay and she will kickstart her second campaign out in the west somewhere in the coming weeks.

STEVE'S GOLD:

He is trialling very nicely. He finished third in a trial at Rosehill a fortnight back with Glynn Schofield up and both Glynn and trainer David Payne were very pleased with his effort. He then went to the trials at Rosehill on Tuesday morning and he finished fourth to Agister with Nathan Berry up.

I went to the trials on Tuesday and thought that his trial was very good. David was also pleased with the trial and told me "we will look for a race for him now."

He has a club foot and to date this has not troubled him but David is managing his leg issues.

RETIREMENTS - DELETED FROM STOCK:

LIYANA has been retired. The daughter of Country Reel only had one start where she led to the turn at Gundagai. She has been having recurring soreness issues and rather than perservere with her I have decided to send her to the stallion.

BOTH SIDES NOW has also been retired. Her first campaign was pretty lacklustre and there is no point in spending money on a mare that has done very little to date - she too will go to the stallion - as will GOVINDA. Neil Paine rode Govinda at her only start and told me she "does not want to be a racehorse" so she too will be put in foal.

SILKEN SAGE has been given away as a hack after an abysmal performance at Nowra first up. Neil again reported that he was not all that interested in the caper - so he is gone.

TRIKE bowed a tendon and has been given away as a hack. GILGAI MAIL has had soreness issues continually and he too has been given away as a hack unraced.

KRAKEN JOKES:

Will come to Sydney to have his knee operated on. He has not raced since he won at Bathurst and will now have the op and a good spell and we are unlikely to see him again until early next year.

Big Red Cat Today

Sorry guys I have not loaded up the website lately but so much has been happening with Platinum Racing and there are several major changes underfoot which I will reveal in the next week or so.

We have Big Red Cat in today at Randwick and i think he will be very hard to beat. He is well placed ratings wise on his last two runs which have been very good, but of course he goes up in the weights.

We have claimed the 3kgs with Adam Hyeronimous and this hopefully will offset the weight.

It would be great if Adam could win a race for us as I have known the entire family all my life. Adam is the grandson of former champion western district jockey Reg Paine and Reg and his wife Rosie have been friends since I was a teenager.

His uncle, Reg and Rosie's son Neil and mother Narelle I have known since I was a kid and Neil has won a race for us, winning on Orpen Road at Moruya.

A win by the cat today at Randwick would complete that family circle for us and I would love to see the horse return to form today.

I am wary of Zattero who is a "Kenso" track winner, and I alwaysd respect Bernie Howlett's horses, so Trescorpioni has to be hard to beat as well.
