Could It Be Godolphin's Year?
In my final analysis of today's Melbourne Cup I am now more convinced than ever that the Godolphin juggernaut may have brought the right horse in Lost In The Moment for today's Melbourne Cup. It is such a hard race and you could have 15 stabs and miss the winner - but the mystique around the race, the form, the track and the depth of international competition makes the race a lottery - but very intriguing.
In doing the form you had to put aside the sentiment of whether Bart Cummings can rack up the baker's dozen and win cup no 13, whether Dean Yendall can cap his meteoric rise as a jockey and win the race on the heavily backed Niwot, whether Americain can carry the extra weight.
But eventually you have to arrive at a decision and I am all over Lost In The Moment each way.
As for good things on the card - I think there is some great value in the other races. I am pretty keen that UNDER THE EIFFEL will win the last providing the track does not get too much rain and cut out. He is a smart horse. I am also pretty keen on LANGRIDGE STREET at huge odds in race eight.
The Randwick meeting looks good value too with TANYA JEAN my best in race five. I also give QUICK PEEK a great chance in race eight.
