TOPWEIGHT News Alert outclassed his rivals in today's Wagga Town Plate (1200 metres) despite his impost of 61kgs - and in doing so gave leading Sydney jockey Hugh Bowman his third successive win in the Riverina's feature sprint race.
Hugh won the last two editions of the race on Wasted Emoptions for Danny Williams and Midnight City for Colbey Hill.
Bowman became the first jockey to win three successive Town Plates and Neville Voigt is the only jockey to have won three successive Wagga Cups (which will be run tomorrow).
Voigt achieved that feat on What Fun (twice) and Chanel. He actually went within a neck of makling it four straight when he was narrowly beaten on the Tommy Smith trained Grand Canyon, which went down to Super Gem ridden by Johnny Gilders.
News Alert was just too classy today. There were no excuses for the beaten brigade and he won as he liked.
