Our Trainers
Platinum Racing uses a variety of trainers - some already well known to all and others who we are keen to assist in becoming well known. Our trainers are in both metropolitan NSW centres and country NSW. It is fair to say that currently we have a bigger footprint in rural NSW - but we are working on that.
COLBEY HILL (Moruya) - Colbey is an expert horsewoman who has had considerable success at training after just a short space of time having won Saturday metropolitan races in Sydney with Midnight City and Approach The Bench, both cast-offs from major stables (John O' Shea and Robert Smerdon respectively). Colbey has also won the Moruya and Canberra Cups as well as the Wagga Town Plate. The relaxed environment at Moruya where she has access to the beach, the track and the river for the horses is idyllic and she has three horses for Platinum currently.
DAVID PAYNE (Rosehill) - David is another who would be known to all. A multiple Gr 1 winning jockey then trainer in his native South Africa, David has been hugely successful since his arrival in Australia. His first Gr 1 winner in Australia was Unearthly in the Flight Stakes, and since then the number of good horses that have gone through his stable is staggering, including Gallant Tess, Hurried Choice, Vecchia Roma, Centennial Park, Rock Me Baby etc etc. David trains Big Red Cat for Platinum and has a high opinion of the horse.
